Mr. Bal Manoj

Mr. Manoj is an experienced Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in laser eye surgery and has performed 10,000 procedures with special interests in cataract surgery, refractive surgery, and children's eye diseases.

He is an Ophthalmic Surgeon for Optical Express and is a consultant for the NHS. Mr. Monoj is registered with the General Medical Council (GMC), is a fully trained Ophthalmologist who has undergone additional specialist training in refractive surgery and is a member of various international bodies such as, the United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He performs complex intraocular surgery including cataract surgery and intraocular lens treatment as well as squint surgery in both adults and children. Twice every year, Mr. Manoj attends International Medical Advisory Board (IMAB) Conferences and is annually assessed by this board. The panel consists of several of the world's most eminent Refractive Surgeons including Mr. Steve Schallhorn, former Head of Ophthalmology for the US Navy, Professor Jan Venter, a world leading Ophthalmic Surgeon, and Mr. Jeffery Machat, co-founder of TLC Vision, one of the largest laser vision correction providers in the world.

After graduating from Grant Medical College, Mr. Manoj started his career in 1992 with a Masters Degree in Ophthalmology from the University of Bombay. He completed his surgical training in Ophthalmology in Cardiff and London, gaining a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training.

In addition to laser eye surgery, he also performs concurrent refractive surgery such as limbal relaxing incisions and astigmatic keratotomy for astigmatism. Mr. Manoj is actively involved in teaching and research.

He has presented numerous papers at national and international meetings on various topics including pseudo-accommodation with IOLs and astigmatism. He is also a Trainer at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists for microsurgical skills and phacoemulsification courses, and is involved with teaching cataract and strabismus surgery.
