Mr Damian Lake

Mr Lake is an experienced Ophthalmic Surgeon, and has performed over 10,000 ocular procedures including cataract extractions, corneal transplants and laser eye surgery. He is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon for Optical Express and at the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead where his specialist interest is the treatment of complex corneal conditions. He is an active member of various affiliated bodies and societies.

Twice every year, Mr. Lake attends International Medical Advisory Board (IMAB) conferences and is annually assessed by this board. The panel consists of several of the world’s most eminent Refractive Surgeons including Mr. Steve Schallhorn, former Head of Ophthalmology for the US Navy, Professor Jan Venter, a world leading Ophthalmic Surgeon, and Mr. Jeffrey Machat, co-founder of TLC Vision, one of the largest laser vision correction providers in the world.

Mr Lake graduated from The University of Glasgow in 1997, before returning to London to complete his training in Ophthalmology. He has completed further advanced Fellowship training in Cornea, External diseases and Refractive surgery at Moorfields Eye Unit, St George’s Hospital, London and The Corneo Plastic Unit, Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead.

He has published numerous research articles on corneal conditions in internationally renowned journals, and presented at National and International conferences. Mr Lake is also a reviewer for the European journal of Ophthalmology and The journal of postgraduate medicine.
