Dr Qazi was born in Peshawar, Pakistan and undertook his college education at Cadet College Kohat before he graduated from the Khyber Medical College, Peshawar in 1985.
He moved to Europe for post-graduation in 1989 after the completion of his internships from Lady Reading Hospital Post-graduate Medical Institute in Peshawar.
Dr Qazi completed his basic ophthalmic training in Ireland, working in Cork University and Waterford Regional Hospitals. In 1994 he obtained his MRCOphth and FRCS (Ophthalmology) from Royal College of Ophthalmologists in London and the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow.
He continued working in Ireland as a senior registrar until 1999 and then joined the Princess Margaret Hospital, University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada as a clinical Ophthalmic Fellow. During his year there, he was also a certified ophthalmologist for a clinical trial conducted by the National Eye Institute, Bethesda in Maryland, USA.
Dr Qazi then returned to UK and worked as Ophthalmic Consultant in NHS before embarking on another adventure of one year fellowship in Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medical University. He is on the specialist register in Ophthalmology with the general medical council from 2004. He has performed thousands of refractive procedures including; Intralase and microkeratome lasik, Lasek, PRK. Conductive keretplasty and Phaco Cataract surgery and IOL Implants.
He has published papers in major peer review Ophthalmic journals with Ocular Immune Disorders and had exposure to the refractive surgery from his initial training years in early 1990's with ALK and AK and then later PRK/LASIK.
A member of the European Cataract and Refractive Surgery Society, Dr Qazi attends international Ophthalmic meetings including American and Canadian Ophthalmic societies. He was recently presented with the European Board of Ophthalmology Diploma.
