Mr. Frank Lavery

An experienced Ophthalmic Surgeon, Mr. Lavery has performed more than 7,000 laser procedures including LASIK and LASEK. He is registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and the Ireland Medical Council (IMC).

Mr. Lavery is a fully trained Ophthalmologist who has undergone additional specialist training in refractive surgery and is an Ophthalmic Surgeon for Optical Express who has extensive experience in anterior segment eye surgery. He has gained vast experience in a wide range of specialities and is an active member of various affiliated bodies and societies such as the Irish College of Ophthalmology and is the only Irish member of the exclusive International Keratorefractive Club which has only 35 members worldwide. Twice every year, Mr. Lavery attends International Medical Advisory Board (IMAB) Conferences and is annually assessed by this board. The panel consists of several of the world's most eminent Refractive Surgeons including Mr. Steve Schallhorn, former Head of Ophthalmology for the US Navy, Professor Jan Venter, a world leading Ophthalmic Surgeon, and Mr. Jeffery Machat, co-founder of TLC Vision, one of the largest laser vision correction providers in the world.

Mr. Lavery is a pioneer in the refractive surgery area and started performing laser eye surgery in Ireland, at a time when it was not even available in the USA. He has been invited to lecture all over the world, including Russia, the USA, Australia, India, Saudi Arabia, Argentina and regularly presents his results at refractive society meetings internationally. In 1984 he performed the first Radial Keratotomy Surgeries to correct vision in short-sighted patients and proceeded to set up the Wellington Eye Clinic in 1985. Mr. Lavery's dedication to his patients and profession can be seen from his commitment to the field of ophthalmology when in October 1993 he set up ‘The Wellington Eye Foundation Sight for Africa' helping thousands of people that are visually impaired.

Mr. Lavery has made presentations in many different countries about laser surgery and regularly attends conferences about both laser vision correction and cataract surgery allowing him to stay abreast of all developments in the advancing field of ophthalmology.
