VISX lasers - what are they?

The VISX excimer laser used in refractive surgery is a gentle, cool beam laser that reshapes the cornea at the front of the eye. The VISX laser removes less tissue from the cornea per dioptre of prescription than most of the lasers used by other providers. Each laser pulse vapourises 0.25 microns of tissue.
